In GameSpot's Ori and the Will of the Wisps updated review for Xbox Series X|S, Mike Epstein gives the game a 9/10, writing " was always an impressive visual showpiece, despite the technical flaws that initially held it back. Will of the Wisps doesn't quite reach the highs of Ori and the Blind Forest's Ginso Tree escape, but it makes up for it with a memorable story that's sure to shed a few tears. The charmingly colorful visuals and beautifully somber orchestral score only improves the experience, creating a sensation that Ori is dancing, not jumping, through the air. But it's in the platforming segments where Will of the Wisps truly shines-the game leans on its floaty jumps but tight controls to curate challenging gauntlets that encourage you to dash about the world with fast, fleeting movements. ![]() Then on Thursday, December 17, we'll reveal which one is named GameSpot's Best Game of 2020.ĭeveloper Moon Studios' Ori and the Will of the Wisps takes a more action-oriented focus than its predecessor, giving brand-new combat abilities to the titular Ori in order to help them overcome nightmarish enemies and monstrous bosses. ![]() We'll be highlighting each with insights as to why we picked them as the best of the year. You can also look over our top games of 2020. If you'd like to check out some of our other favorites across other platforms, be sure to read all our end-of-the-year coverage in the Best of 2020 hub. Doing so will also net you the somewhat niche but impressive line-up of Xbox console exclusives that were released this year, like Call of the Sea and Tetris Effect: Connected. So if you're curious about trying Ori and the Will of the Wisps, Spiritfarer, or Doom Eternal, you should consider investing in the best deal in gaming. Three of the five are on Xbox Game Pass, too. So yeah, you can find all of the games on this list on other platforms, but that doesn't detract that they all look and play very well on Xbox platforms. No standout first-party exclusives like PlayStation, but plenty of third-party games look great on Xbox One X, and they look even better (and load a lot faster) on Xbox Series X|S. ![]() In the following article, we detail our five favorite Xbox games for 2020-so any game that released for Xbox One or Xbox Series X|S this year.Īll said and done, 2020 was a pretty good year for Xbox. The rather chaotic 2020 is coming to a close, which means the GameSpot staff is sporadically taking breaks from the regular day-to-day coverage to look back on the year that was and discuss the games we liked the most.

Genki Girl: Very energetic and enthusiastic. However, we never get to see them, as they are always obscured by blue earpieces, which, according to Word of God, are actually a set of hearing aids, as her half-breed nature results in a genetic defect that renders her near-deaf. Ear Fins: According to Word of God, she has fish fin-like ears.Dragon Rider: Invoked during the Unexpected Shmup Level between Pangu Lagoon and Battle Glacier, she leads the assault on Brevon's base of operations on the back of the Holodragon, which is a battle form taken by Pangu, a drone she recovered from Pangu Lagoon during her investigation mission on behalf of the Magister.Dragon Ancestry: She's actually a half-dragon hybrid, with her other heritage unknown. In the sequel, after getting blasted by a trick bomb by Merga, she refuses to go down and actively fights to stay conscious, with Merga genuinely impressed that she wasn't knocked out entirely. In the first game, Lord Brevon himself suspects that she's one of these despite being both physically and mentally scarred from his torture. ![]() Determinator: She refuses to give up under any circumstances, even when the rest of the team starts having doubts about their mission. She's a water dragon who's very perky and friendly with a big heroic streak, but becomes downright ferocious if you harm innocents or her friends. Later, subjects were shown pairs of slides. For example, subjects were asked, “How fast was the car traveling when it passed the yield sign?” But this question was actually designed to be misleading, because the original slide included a stop sign rather than a yield sign. Some subjects were then asked leading questions about what had happened in the slides. In an early study of eyewitness memory, undergraduate subjects first watched a slideshow depicting a small red car driving and then hitting a pedestrian (Loftus, Miller, & Burns, 1978). ![]() Something as straightforward as which sort of traffic sign was in place at an intersection can be confused if subjects are exposed to erroneous information after the initial incident. Psychological science has taught us what some of those precautions might involve, and we discuss some of that science now. There is also hope, though, that many of the errors may be avoidable if proper precautions are taken during the investigative and judicial processes. For details on this case and other (relatively) lucky individuals whose false convictions were subsequently overturned with DNA evidence, see the Innocence Project website ( ). After more than 10 years, he was exonerated (and the real rapist identified) based on DNA evidence. In a particularly famous case, a man named Ronald Cotton was identified by a rape victim, Jennifer Thompson, as her rapist, and was found guilty and sentenced to life in prison. ![]() Faulty eyewitness testimony has been implicated in at least 75% of DNA exoneration cases-more than any other cause (Garrett, 2011). There is also evidence that mistaken eyewitness evidence can lead to wrongful conviction-sending people to prison for years or decades, even to death row, for crimes they did not commit. There is now a wealth of evidence, from research conducted over several decades, suggesting that eyewitness testimony is probably the most persuasive form of evidence presented in court, but in many cases, its accuracy is dubious. When an eyewitness stands up in front of the court and describes what happened from her own perspective, this testimony can be extremely compelling-it is hard for those hearing this testimony to take it “with a grain of salt,” or otherwise adjust its power. Why Is Eyewitness Testimony an Important Area of Psychological Research? The more money you earn, the more animals and upgrades you can purchase for your farm to improve your equipment and make even more produce. For example, to make a certain number of baked goods, you need to first grow grass by clicking on the ground, then buy ducks and feed them, collect their eggs, build an egg solids plant and bakery and only then bake what you need to deliver your quota of goods so that you can send them off to be sold in the market. The tasks may start off easy, like collecting a certain amount of eggs, but as you progress through the game the challenges get tougher. The game represents daily chores of a farmer, but breeding animals and cultivating plants becomes a real entertainment, as the game offers a plenty of interesting tasks to upgrade your farm. Updated: JThis is the third time you will run a farm as a business. It may sound easy, but to complete each level in the game you have to accomplish a specific task. Farm Frenzy is a colorful business simulator, that has become a hit all over the world. In this first installment of the smash hit Time Management series, you'll learn how to run a farm: Tend cows in the fields, collect eggs and make fresh farm produce like baked goods, wool and milk to sell in the market and earn some cash.

Entretenimiento Música Música Entretenimiento ![]() Personally, I am in favour of lecture capture: at least, a version in which audio is presented along with any slides. This could leave parents, among others, asking difficult questions about the content and value for money of higher education. With study resources migrating to virtual learning environments and now classroom activity migrating to join them, we risk an apparent “MOOC-ification” of teaching – where all lectures could be viewed as part of a massive open online course. Perhaps the biggest institutional concern will arise around how all this appears from outside. Metrics on how many students view these recordings may soon become part of a “big data” story – integrated with metrics of course evaluation and workload as a contested part of an academic’s personal development planning or a university’s audit. Suppose a lecturer was asked to speak at a conference but it awkwardly clashed with a lecturing commitment – it might be tempting to grab last year’s recording and simply re-cycle it.īut a recorded lecture may not always serve the lecturer so generously. Presentation, because lecturers may become more cautious about interactive formats: if students show uneasiness about being recorded taking part (or, indeed, demanding consent to be recorded doing so).Įducational technologists speak of “re-usable learning objects” – and recorded lectures could fall into this category. ![]() Content, because a recording is unforgiving in its permanence and vulnerable to uncontrolled circulation beyond its intended audience. Perhaps most worrying would be if lecturers start avoiding controversy and taking risks in both the content they use and their presentation. More controversially, lecturing may morph into performing: with modes of presentation that play up to the camera (or microphone). Students using recordings will miss much of this, while lecturers may need to inhibit action to accommodate fixed cameras. Performance anxietyĪnother anxiety concerns the physical presence of the lecturer in front of his or her students: their gestures, movements, facial expressions, and eye contact. Such study habits are known to be unhelpful and so we can do without further temptations towards them. Similarly, ready access to replays may encourage procrastination and then episodes of “binge studying” around the time of examinations. ![]() This danger is that the lecture may increasingly be interpreted by students as being “the main thing”, prompting them to anxiously reproduce its contents in assignments. This could be counter-productive for staff wishing to stimulate a wide range of study practices. ![]() Man laptop via Rock and Wasp/Whether or not attendance is disrupted the organised recording of lectures by universities – versus the under-the-desk recording by students – risks putting too much importance on the lecture in the learning experience. The potential downsides of lecture capture gather around three themes: changes to student experience, changes in teacher practices, and the re-shaping of institutional strategy. Meanwhile, lecturers can review students’ use of their presentations – perhaps noting sections that attract frequent re-visiting and so identify points where repair or elaboration might be useful.īut we have a responsibility to ensure that, on balance, any disturbance enriches rather than disrupts the vitality of the teaching and learning ecosystem. Those without English as their first language may be particular beneficiaries. Recordings might free the student to fully engage at the live event while taking more measured notes on the second viewing. For instance, some lectures are challenging (or obscure) and so need to be heard more than once. The positives are pretty easy to imagine. Perhaps to inspire, perhaps to disrupt but, most likely, to create new dynamics with both positive and negative effects. A new technology such as the automatic recording of lectures does not just add something good to the learning context – it re-configures it, but in uncertain ways. Our universities are rich human ecosystems and, as such, they can prove fragile in the face of interventions. Yet lobbing new resources into complex settings deserves caution. Some onlookers expect a hesitant response from the higher education sector, which is often portrayed as cautious about taking up educational technologies. And the IT industry has created some seductive products to record lectures, a process also known as “lecture capture”. Universities across the world are considering whether to start automatically recording lectures. “You would not believe, crazy good.”Īnd while you listen to the music, and sip your drink, you can take in the panoramic views. “Off the charts, actually! It took Chris 11 years to get to the point where he could quit his day job and make music for a living. Supporting their journey is just as important as supporting my journey and showing off Petra’s beautiful space and being a part of the community.” And so we found that it’s really important for us to showcase other artists, from Seattle and beyond, that are career artists, who are trying to do this for a living.
